  • OnePlus’ co-founder Carl Pei recently launched a new venture.
  • His new venture is called Nothing.
  • Nothing could make an announcement next week.

It was last week that OnePlus’ co-founder, Carl Pei, announced his new startup, Nothing. At the launch, Pei made the company official but still kept details about its first product under wraps. However, that could change now, as the company has teased an announcement for next week. While there’s no confirmation, the expectation is it could be the reveal of the company’s first product.

The announcement was teased through the brand’s official Instagram and Twitter accounts, with the teaser also coming with a caption that spoke about the company’s milestones, with the next one scheduled for next week. However, since then the company has gone ahead and removed the teaser from its social media pages hinting that there could be some change in the plans.

Because of the nature of the teaser, and generally, how the company has functioned to date, there was nothing that the teaser revealed about Nothing’s next announcement. So, for now, we would be just shooting in the dark if we talk about what the company could launch next week.

Although, what we do know is that Pei’s new London-based venture, Nothing, has been announced to be a consumer technology company which as revealed before the launch comes with a really interesting set of investors, including iPod inventor Tony Fadell, Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman, and also the founder of CRED, Kunal Shah, among others.

Speaking about the launch of his new venture, Nothing, its CEO and founder, Carl Pei, has already said, “It’s been a while since anything interesting happened in tech. It is time for a fresh breeze of change… Nothing’s mission is to remove barriers between people and technology to create a seamless digital future. We believe that the best technology is beautiful, yet natural and intuitive to use. When sufficiently advanced, it should fade into the background and feel like nothing.”

For now, it’s unclear what kind of products Nothing will launch under its brand name, however, in the past we’ve had Carl Pei reveal himself that this new venture will focus on audio products, but did warn that they will not simply just launch headphones but something more. This at the time was thought to be a hint at Pei even launching a streaming platform for music under his new venture.
